EDXperience

Hello all! TGIF mai ka? For me, it's like a Friday more often than before because of time flexibility ka! Will have a workshop to observe over the weekend and hope to learn more to share later ka.

Yesterday, I gave a 30-minute talk at the 40th Thailand TESOL and PAC International Conference 2020 and the subject was what I created as the topic of my talk ka.

The short time made me think hard how to be concise to choose only what could be key while talking with the English teaching circle made me nervous nidnueng ka.

In any case, let me share what I talked about na ka.

I decoded the created word, 'EDXperiece' into 4 words ka, starting from 'Experience', 'Exponential', 'Education', and 'Diversity' ka.

On 'Experience',  I mentioned the current world thinks about products and services to make it more meaningful by providing 'experience' to customers. My questions were to think more of one's own generation and other gens especially the young whether we have the same, similar, or different definition, what types of experiences have TESOLers (people in this Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language circle) offered?, what to introduce?, and
who we need to to care for?

On 'Exponential', I stressed the importance of exponential growth because of the advances of technologies and shared what I learned from 'Singularity University'. My questions were: does TESOL stay linear and go exponential?
would TESOL be relevant?, till when?, and are TESOLers ready to be transformed?

On 'Education', the focus was on the speedy arrival of AI and the set of questions consisted of the following: Still or No longer ‘Education/TESOL as Usual?, Holding ourselves accountable as educators?, and Is 'TESOL still needed for human life in the future?''

The last one was on 'Diversity' which is a keyword of the conference theme and what the world has discussed a lot.  These were the questions I asked ka:  'Is diversity more important in the exponential world?', 'Can we link diversity closely with intercultural competence and other soft skills?', and 'Have we heightened ‘humans’ in ourselves and our TESOL community of human learners?

I concluded with some examples (TESOL Sandbox/Bot, TESOL Storytelling Apps, etc.) and what they could start or continue thinking and maximize their expertise and sygergy on cross-cultural, cross-disciplinary, cross-generational, cross-sectoral dimensions for more 'Humans' into the Future (definitely with 'empathy' on the top of the list ka!)
