Mine had both relaxing time and work sabai sabai with some resting in between:))!
Have finished a book, entitled, "จีน-อเมริกา" (China-America -- from trade war to tech war and cold war 2.0) by Ajarn Arm Tungnirun.
This is an interesting book that tells us about the world's two powerful countries, their thoughts and strategies in particular ka.
A few to share here are:
- Learning to see the future clearly, one needs to understand these three factors of changes which are: demographics, technology, and geopolitics as their influences are game changers to the disruption era....what we must realize with readiness.
- Dr. Arm uses his 'Pork Belly Theory -- หมูสามชั้น' when talking about the conflicts between China and America. The first pork layer is the trade war, the second is the technology war when China has come up with its industry strategy to reach 'Made in China 2025', and the third is the most important which is 'Security' that covers both of data and information, and for military use. He stresses that we need to look beyond the current trade war ka.
- I've got an answer why China has changed the name of the project, 'One Belt One Road' to 'Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)'. This is to show China's intention to create linkages in various dimensions, not just infrastructure. BRI is a broad framework that depends on over 68 countries (65% of the world population) involved to negotiate on how best to have win-win partnership with China.
- ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific -- AOIP is very interesting how ASEAN wants to balance the power of China and the US. While using Indo-Pacific following what the US has introduced, ASEAN stands firm to have its own interpretation of this term. The key word is the balance of the two powers ka.
On a related matter, I sort of follow changes made from exponential growth in many sectors. So, while reviewing Organization Profiles (OP) for EdPEx of a few universities, I realize how we need to identify changes more closely especially during the disruptive era. The three factors Ajarn Arm stated must be brought in to discuss their implications in our cultures and contexts. I hope most, if not all, universities set fast forward button to act in a very proactive way ka.
Fun and fearless in 2020 ka.
