Good day ka.
I'm still impressed what has been shared on Eight and a Half Podcast. This time, it's about 10 ways to create innovation of the MIT Media Lab which is summarized from two episodes of this program (Ep#1040-41 on January 17-18, 2022) Khun Tong got it from a book by Joi Ito, entitled, 'Whiplash: How to Survive Our Faster Future. 2018'.
1) 'Emergence over Authority' means that it's better to let things emerge on its own....grow more healthily than ordering it to happen ka. Thinking of KM ka...one can't force the team to write down what they know but let them share in a more natural way.
2) 'Pull over Push' is similar to the first....support, not force.
3) 'Compass over Map' refers to guided directions not specific instructions without flexibility to think on one's own.
4) 'Risk over Safety' is kind of obvious these days especially in the speedy world when we need to take 'intelligent risks' not sitting doing nothing for fear of failure or blame.
5) 'Disobedience over Compliance' to try things without permission and then ask for forgiveness if things fail.
6) Practice over Theory seems to contradict what it should be but it's true that some of the theories could be outdated while others could be in differing settings and contexts na ka. Startups therefore care more for actual hands-on experiences to prove their thinking.
7) Diversity over Ability is high on my own agenda to promote diversity for more diverse ideas instead of relying on one or a few individuals who are seen very smart ka.
8) Resilience over Strength sees how fail fast and fail forward notion is adopted and so we need to have more resilience to get up and restart or continue experimenting. Holding on to our existing strengths may not be as helpful.
9) Systems over Objects stress the importance of systematic approaches to become aligned and integrated.
10) Learning over Education fits with our today's world not to over-value diplomas.
Out of the 10 ways, which do you like most ka? If I have to choose, mine is 5, 7, and 10 ka.
